a poem
I love the imperious, challenging tone. "My heart beats fast . . ." had me thinking of Robert Lowell's savage devotional poem, "Colloquy in Black Rock," with its frantic refrain, "My heart beat faster, faster."
Thank you, Peter. I had to go and look up Lowell’s poem since I’m not familiar with it. I agree! It does carry a similar tone and rhythm.

Thanks, Mark. I always enjoy your readings. You’ve inspired me to take the leap!
Excellent! The world needs more spoken poetry.
This was lovely. And I'm so glad I listened to the audio. This was my best thing today, thank you.
You’re so kind, Joffre. Thank you! We don’t all have your resonant voice but I’m learning to be more comfortable hearing my own.
Loved the poem, and the recording! (Truth be told, I absolutely can't stand hearing myself. :) But I cringe through it and give it a go anyway.)
Loved this line: "Good God of the wild places
and he who sowed the fields of stars above,"
